Biography
The busking trail (Christo Groenewald) - another one of those writers who hasn't landed and then gone musician. Seems he feels music may be a better medium to find attention, and to draw attention to his art and writing. What writers have to go through to find appreciation!
Christo was born in South Africa Krugersdorp 28 February 1972.
Why ‘the busking trail'? First he called himself ‘the Gospel'. But the man on the street (Cape Town South Africa) did not catch on to the parody. Most thought he was a gospel singer! So, not finding joy in the tiny and over saturated music scene in SA, Chris turned to busking, where he could at least make a living. Busking took him to Paris, London and Barcelona, but during this period, took him to some of the most obscure and neglected open mic's of the human heart, where he composed most of the songs of this album.
‘A Songwriter must have the ability to stroke Am on a good old guitar, and then instantly come up with a song.' Of course, the busking trail's songs are lyric driven. So any song for him starts on paper.
‘It was a dream', explores the separation between lovers, between the real and the unreal, sane and insane - between you and me. And this is apparent in his songs. There is a deep sadness, unmistakably real and surreal.
