Biography
“I was born to be on stage,” says singer/actor Brooke Rachel Shive, who has been on and around stages of all forms since the age of two. Her fondest childhood memories are when she
and her mother would travel to see her father, Steve Shive, perform. Steve, a professional drummer, has recorded and/or toured with artists such as Daryl Hall of Hall and Oates, Tim Moore, Robbie Dupree, Skip Scarboro (EWF) and Ken Scott, the
producer of the David Bowie’s monumental album, ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars’.
According to Brooke, this unique upbringing has played a major role in who she is today. "As long as I’m singing and entertaining others, I know I’m where I belong.”
Brooke is the lead vocalist of Philadelphia based, Brooke Shive & the 45’s, a band that she formed with her father, Steve. They are the only father/daughter act in popular music today! A dynamic performer that leaves everything on stage, Brooke’s love of american music, blues, soul, country and pop provides her with deep musical influences. Her emotional honesty, and her gritty yet elegant and powerful voice, that only a few talented souls possess, ignites a fire deep within her with every note she sings. Whatever “it” is, Brooke has it.
Backing Brooke Shive in her quest to bring americana and roots music back to the mainstream of American music are the 45’s.
The band writes and performs an eclectic mix of mature, lyrically cohesive tunes that are catchy, memorable and exciting! This record, their first independent release, demonstrates their effortless and inspired command of americana, roots rock, alt-country and blues influenced material. They also pay tribute to a few of their heroes too. To Elvis, with an old Charles Singleton, Rose Marie McCoy tune, "Trying to Get to You", an Allen Toussaint tune penned under the name Naomi Neville, "Pain in My Heart", and the brash, saucy, suggestive Etta James tune W.O.M.A.N.
This record should establish them as one of the hottest new bands on the scene!
