Inspired by the Texas death penalty system and its relevant website, this song begins with the sound of a distant freight train before guitar intro. The storyline is from a true set of circumstances where, on being interviewed, one of the guards at the facility in Livingstone, Polk County, stated that some of his colleagues call the final walk to the chamber the 'Damascus Road' as they often 'find' God on the way. The character in the song was real.
