I Promised Her The Moon
I Promised Her The Moon

I promised her the moon
just like she wanted
Bought gifts of fine perfume
Just like she wanted
We dined by candle light
and later on that night
I always promised her the moon
I gave her everything
that she desired
fulfilled each little whim
that she required
I bought her fancy clothes
and kissed her on the nose
and always promised her the moon
But she just didn’t take
to my affections
she said she needed life
to take a new direction
she found another guy
she didn’t care that I
had always promised her the moon
That moon was shining bright
the last time we got together
she told me I’d be alright
but I knew better
We said our last good-byes
and right then I realized
I never gave her the moon
So I gave her the moon
right in her front yard
I always thought it’d be impossible
It really wasn’t that hard
Yes I gave her the moon
Shot it right to her door
But now I don’t think she wants me
I really don’t think she wants me
No, I really don’t think she wants me Anymore
