Black Bear
Down in the woods walkin home
Down in the woods where the black bears roam
Walkin by the old tall pines
Humming a tune in the soft moonlight
I looked up when I heard a sound
They warn at night the beast comes out
Up ahead the trail was clear
Brother’s voice fell on my ears
Calling out he ran to me
Bear behind him running free
Brother’s face was pale as snow
Eyes full of fear in the moonlight glow
The bear was closing in behind
Both of us were short on time
Pulled my Springfield 45
Shot him right between the eyes
