intro
I. Let me tell you a story about a good gal named Glory and the life she was raring to live.
How brightly her light burned ‘til slowly she learned you don’t always get back what you give.
REFRAIN:
So here’s one for old Glory, she’s lost and she’s lonely, here’s one for her boy who’s in jail.
Each day it’s just TV and a shot of cheap whiskey to get through a life that’s gone stale.
II. She’s a blonde who’s been blonder and her legs a lot longer, so sexy when she danced in the rain.
Now she sits in her trailer with no great sense of failure and no grasp on the depth of her pain.
REFRAIN:
So here’s one for old Glory, she’s lost and she’s lonely, here’s one for her boy who’s in jail.
Each day it’s just TV and a shot of cheap whiskey to get through a life that’s gone stale.
III. One fine sunny morning her heart without warning decided to give out at last.
It was days ‘til they found her, nobody around her, as gone as the days of her past.
REFRAIN (2x):
So here’s one for old Glory, she’s no longer lonely, here’s one for her boy, still in jail.
But she knew Jesus loved her and he’d take good care of her, when she reached the end of her trail.
