More Than I Can Handle
Lord, I lay me down to pray, my plate is full again
To others it might seem that way, but, Lord, You understand
A list like this can only be my nightly prayer’s preamble
So thank You, Lord, for giving me more than I can handle
Like a peace of mind in summertime, and flowers in the spring
Like endless love, and stars above, and angels on the wing
It would take me night and day and both ends of the candle
To thank You, Lord, for giving me more than I can handle
I am so undeserving, Lord, and ever I will be
But as it were thank You, Lord, for overwhelming me
Now, I am not a betting man, but if I were I’d gamble
That You will always give to me more than I can handle
Like a true belief, and puppies’ breath, and grandsons with their toy
Like endless skies, and butterflies, and mighty clouds of joy
It would take me night and day and both ends of the candle
To thank You, Lord, for giving me more than I can handle
Like a peace of mind in summertime, and flowers in the spring
Like endless love, and stars above, and angels on the wing
It would take me night and day and both ends of the candle
To thank You, Lord, for giving me more than I can handle
Oh thank You, Lord, for giving me more than I can handle
