The Man I Was Meant To Be
When I was a kid we played outside even after dark
There was no place we could not hide the whole world was our yard
We get our chores done early then out the door and gone
And we didn't have to be back in till the porch light came on

Chorus
And all the bumps and the bruises, all the scraps and the cuts
And a couple broken bones were just part of growing up
And getting my butt busted with a strap of rawhide tea
Is what made that little boy into the man I's meant to be

Sometimes we'd ride our bikes down to the four lane and beyond
Our swimming pool was Cedar Creek or old man Miller's pond
All summer we'd play baseball though no on owned a glove
And it was always tackle football, never two hand touch

Chorus

Now most of my buddies were bigger than me but I never once backed down
Sometimes we'd fight and they'd win but i always stood my ground
Then we's make up in a day or two and forget our little spat
Cause in the end we were best of friends and we had each other's back

Chorus
