Billy Winn
Biography
Billy Winn is a singer, songwriter, actor, and multi-faceted artist, writer, and performer from Washington, DC whose debut single—the infectious dance song, “Ferocious,” is currently receiving remarkable international attention. Growing up a singer, dancer, writer, and actor in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Billy decided to become a recording artist at age twelve, initiating his pursuit by writing songs, recording demos, and performing in talent competitions and professional theatre. After graduating from Pittsburgh’s Creative and Performing Arts high school, he moved to Washington, DC where he started out as a backup singer, before becoming a member of the Neo-Soul outfit, Auteur. Auteur gained a substantial following—becoming known on the DC club circuit before disbanding in 2010, leaving Billy to resume the pursuit of his solo career. In early 2010, he teamed up with producer, L Blayze—recording the single, “Ferocious,” and beginning production on his debut album—tentatively scheduled for release in 2011. Billy describes his musical style as, “a hybrid-Pop music sound,” that combines Dance, Electronic, Rock, Synthpop, House, and Disco. He notes his influences as Prince, Aaliyah, Kanye West, Daft Punk, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Timbaland, The Postal Service, Depeche Mode, and Mary J. Blige.
