It’s so hard in high society
Keeping up with the latest craze
All the constant jet setting can get a person fretting
‘Till you feel just like mice in a maze

That’s why it’s so damned appealing
To be on the cusp of something so new
Because if you’re not living on the edge, my dear
You’re just taking up too much room

The society pages are blaring
The rumors have turned into fact
The word’s out on what everyone’s wearing:
Love Is The New Black

You can see the changes in haute couture
In Gucci, Versace and Saks
The ads in Vogue all shout, “Amore!”
Love Is The New Black

You can wear it anywhere from Times Square to political marches
It goes well with high heels, black boots, or bare feet in the sand
At the White House, the green room, the red carpet or the Golden Arches
If the invitation is a formal affair or a casual one-night stand - it’s grand!

Finally the styles are changing
To something you can get off the rack
Try it on dear you’ll look amazing
Love Is The New Black

All the hip trendsetters like Wang, and Dior, and P. Diddy
Know that something as elusive as love can change day-to-day
It’s hot in Paris and London and Rome and of course New York City
Now that it’s hit the streets give it two weeks and it might make its way to L.A.


Of course then the trend will be over
So now is the time to react
Tell your Debutants and Bon Vivants that
Love Is The New Black

Because once it’s been seen in Us Magazine
Well, we’ll have to take everything back
Till then only depend on your blue-blooded friends to know that
