I’m gonna tell you a story
Full of struggle and strife
It might get a little gory
But hey, that’s my life!

What’s that on your shirt, she said to me
It’s the Rolling Stones logo from 1983
I got it at a show I’ll never forget
She laughed and said,
How cool, I wasn’t born yet!

I’m at an Awkward Stage
Don’t want to act my age
All I want to do is rage!
Rage against the dying of the light!

You know it just ain’t right
To go down without a fight
I don’t want to turn the page
I’m at an Awkward Stage

She filmed us at a party and put it on the ‘net
I said, I’m not even in this thing
She said, you wanna bet?
Then she pointed at the guy with the bald spot
And said, who’s that?
Now I don’t know whether to shave my head
Or buy a hat

I’m at an Awkward Stage
Don’t want to act my age
All I want to do is rage!
Rage against the dying of the light!

You know it don’t feel right
To wear my jeans this tight
But I don’t wanna wear beige
I’m at an Awkward Stage

I used to be seen in all the clubs
But now it just looks creepy
I used to stay up all night long
But now I just get sleepy
I used to have big hopes and dreams
They might have been a little lofty
Used to be hard as nails
Now I’m just a big softie

Well I met her folks, we ate in front of the TV
They graduated high school just two years before me
Have you thought about your future?
I just said, “yup”
Truth is, I don’t even know what I want to be
When I grow up

I’m at an Awkward Stage
Don’t want to act my age
All I want to do is rage!
Rage against the dying of the light

The fat lady hasn’t sung
I never felt so young
So this is war I wage
I’m at an Awkward Stage

Just like Nicolas Cage
I’m at an Awkward Stage
