Christmas At The Old Home Place
Writer: Earl Barnes
Mom would decorate the tree with popcorn on a string
Paper dolls cut from a book with painted angel wings
The simple things she had to use and fixed each one with love
Hung them very carefully with blessings from above
Gathered round the Christmas tree with friends and loved ones dear
Christmas at the old home place my favorite time of year
Stockings on the mantel piece with holes in all the heels
But it didn't matter we knew her love was real
For we knew that if she could she'd give us lots of things
We loved those big red apples and striped candy canes
Then on Christmas mornin' we'd gather around the tree
With two younger brothers, mom, dad and me
Then we'd all give thanks to God our eyes be filled with tears
Christmas at the old home place my favorite time of year
