Biography
Barbara-Mae has been performing for audiences for the past seven years with her unique and unmistakable voice. Barbara-Mae and the Nashville Renegades were the opening act for April wine at the Fleet Club in Halifax and most recently sent our Canadian troops off in style as the main event at the "Shad Bash" held at the Fleet Club in Halifax in August 2007. Currently three times per year, Barbara-Mae heads to Nashville to lay tracks for songwriters pitching their songs. Barbara-Mae and the Nashville Renegades were the only Nova Scotia band to make the finals in a contest held in Moncton on August 30th, 2007. The winning band got to open for Tim and Faith at "Concert Rocks the Hill" on September 1st, 2007. Barbara-Mae and The Nashville Renegades finished 'runner-up' with only a few votes between them and the first place band.
Barbara-Mae's first album "Dance With My Father" was dedicated to her dad who passed away in November of 2007. Although her father was not here when she started her career and had not seen her peform live and on stage, she knows he is with her everytime she plays. The new album currently in the works "Close Your Eyes and Listen" features local songwriters such as Dawn Miller, Chris Preston, as well as lead guitar George Antoniak. One of the songs on the album was co-written by Gordie Sampson (co-writer of Jesus Take The Wheel)
