Review from Beach Sloth
From Beach Sloth:

Dirt Track Racer opts for a warm, lo-fi sound on the intimate “Something’s Gotta Give”. Full of fire and passion, the songs are sung straight from the heart. Their unusual arrangements and playful poetic lyricism recall a cleaned-up version of Guided By Voices. Done with the utmost of care they create an entire world of their own design. Focusing on the smallest of details, they delve into beautiful narratives from a life lived to the fullest. Emotionally they run the gamut from rushed blurs of beauty to contemplative codas.

“Something’s Gotta Give” shows off the impressive range of Dirt Track Racer in crafting something truly shimmering.

From Warlock Asylum:

…a musical smorgasbord that draws upon elements from the blues, jazz, and soul for a healthy serving of Americana music. Something’s Gotta Give is a thrilling effort by Dirt Track Racer that should not be missed.

Review from Dancing About Architecture
From Dancing About Architecture (Dave Franklin):

Like all good music, genres become irrelevant anyway but if Americana is a term used to describe music which is somehow linked to the American experience, its history, its landscape, its culture and act as a soundtrack to the country itself, then this is as close as it gets I think.

On the title track ("Something's Gotta Give):

….there is a lovely, graceful lilting quality to the song. It is built around the old stalwart sound, the guy with a guitar, but it is how things build from there that is the real charm. A groovesome backbeat keeps things moving, the bass providing as much energy as the drums themselves, harmonious vocals add gorgeous additions and the whole thing seems to build in texture as it goes along rather than weight, which is neat trick if you can do it. And do it they do! Without even breaking a sweat.
