4. Indigenous Nomad
INDIGENOUS NOMAD
By Andrew Lilly © 2017 ASCAP
Once I slept in a bed and for a while I had a tent
Sometimes I find a cardboard box, but I just can’t pay no rent
Cars go drivin’ by, I be waivin’ my hands in the air
Talkin’ to my friends (you know) there ain’t nobody there
Just a nomad, always on the move
Indigenous nomad, got nothin’ more to prove
I wear three sweatshirts and two left shoes
Busy workin’ every day, I guess I’m payin’ my dures
Sure, I’m a nomad, always on the go
Me and my street corner friends we be puttin’ on a show
Like “Hey Buddy, spare me a dollar or a dime?”
I don’t have a problem with stealin’ but I just can’t do the time”
Cause I’m a nomad, always on the move
Indigenous nomad, got nothin’ more to prove
(12bar solo)
So sometimes I crawl throught the aqueduct like a troglodyte mole
Scratchin’ around under bridges, just a nasty old troll
Yeah, I’m a nomad and I need to be on my way
Indigenous nomad, just got one more thing to say
You know when I’m pushin’ my shopping cart I like level ground
But it’s getting mighty heavy with all the good things that I found
Aaahh nomad, always on the move
Indigenous nomad, there ain’t nothin’ more to prove
Indigenous nomad, there ain’t nothin’ more to prove
