When First He Touched This Earth
On a quiet road so long ago as only stars shone down, two people struggled faithfully to reach a tiny town;
She was young and nearly worn out, her child now was due, he was strong and urged her on encouraged her anew;
They reached an Inn inside the town and asked for lodging there, the Innkeeper had none to give but said that they could share;
A stable with some animals, a humble place indeed, both knowing they had no where else, reluctantly agreed.
Finally the time had come, there lying in the hay, for the pain and tears of childbirth, and joy, great joy as they...now witnessed our God's greatest gift, of life, a new, a child...a son who could to all the land bring peace and mercy mild.
As others came and gave this child some gifts both large and small, they could not know what lay ahead...no could not know at all;
That from this lowly crib of straw would come a man of love...to save the souls of humankind, so blessed by God above...so blessed by God above.
Now every year we celebrate the day of Jesus' Birth, remembering his humble start when first he touched this Earth.
Help us Lord so may we now remember once again, the lessons that our Savior taught, to all of us, Amen,... amen...amen...amen. A...men!
