One Stop Country Review
With his debut EP The Buried Truth, singer/songwriter Ryan Humphrey gave listeners a little bit of everything that he does all rolled into one from the blues influence to the rock based country aspects. With his brand new single "Goodbye To Last Night," Humphrey again offers something very intriguing and unique to our ears. You can't help but tap your foot from the start of the song as the up-tempo feel of it instantly grabs your attention as he sings a crafty lyric that is as catchy as it is good as it focuses on the very relatable feelings of looking back on your life from where you stand today. Compelling lyrics like "echoes of my youth gone by" all help to weave your way to the chorus that feels like it was designed to make sure you sing-a-long with it; especially as you reach the final chorus and the music slows down allowing the room for you to have at it as he sings "goodbye to last night, no regrets that I can justify" all leading into the realization that it has in fact been "one hell of a ride." The fiddle and mandolin lacked throughout the song offer a chance to hear instrumentation that has all but escaped the country genre of today and while this will best be classified as Americana, "Goodbye To Last Night" presents a country vibe with an acoustic punk rock edge wrapped within the punch. Great stuff again from Ryan Humphrey that sees him elevating his game that much more as he gets stronger and stronger as an artist and writer, which this song more than shows.
