Biography
Andrea England started her life and artist career in Halifax, and her time there influenced a big part of who she is as a woman and songwriter - although she’s never written about it as directly as she does on this latest release. Over the pandemic, thoughts and images of her early life kept flooding back.

She’s since moved away from her home province of Nova Scotia to settle in Toronto Ontario, but she visits “home” often; she supposes that she had to leave Halifax to get to where she is, but like her song says, “I keep coming back”

“Halifax” is the album’s first single because she wanted to start the album where she started. It’s a nostalgic song about a lost love forever connected to a place and a time - and to write it, she drew upon her first real heartbreak – one that literally led her to leave a city she loved. It’s also about the conflict of loving a place, but knowing that you have to leave it to pursue your dreams.

Produced by JUNO Award winner Hill Kourkoutis (Aysanabee), Evidence of Love was predominantly created by women. Andrea writes a lot of songs with and for other artists, but some songs she saves for herself - until it becomes clear that the time is right to release them into the world. She wrote all of the songs on EoL, except for one (“Stone”) which she co-wrote with Tenille Townes and another (“Cover to Cover”) with Liz Rodrigues (Celine, Eminem) and James Bryan (Drake, Nelly Furtado).

When she wrote the title track, “Evidence of Love,” she felt the time had come to tell some of these stories. In the end, she chose seven songs, each reflecting a different aspect of love, in order: nostalgic love, love of parents, loss, absence of love, betrayal, ideal love, and the love we take with us when we …go.

Life is a work in process, but love, she says, “is essential to every part of it.”

Evidence of Love is available now most places music streams.
