A Way Of Life
Who knows where I’m going on this clear and perfect day
The birds are singing pretty songs and the farmer’s making hay
There’s a thoroughbred in training and he’s holding down the pace
And the rider feels he’s ready now to win another race
There’s a sail boat on the river and it’s going with the breeze
And there are lovers in the cornfield playing games
With the birds and bees

It’s not a dream, this could be a way of life
Just look around, you could be in paradise
It takes me back in my mind to the days when we were young
Filled with laughter in the rain and splendour in the sun

Who knows where it’s leading me, this long and winding trail
There’s a beauty in this country scene that works for me so well
There are children in the playing fields, safe from all the sins
And their mothers have no fear when there’s no danger from within
There’s a slow train in the distance, making steam and moving on
And the harvester is resting for the day
Now the work is done

It’s not a dream, this could be a way of life
Just look around, you could be in paradise
It takes me back in my mind to the days when we were young
Filled with laughter in the rain and splendour in the sun
