The lyrics most famous song,”Wildfire”, came to me in a dream, probably because of tales and legends told in the Southwest that I heard as a child that I had sublimated deep in my memories. Larry Cansler, my old friend from North Texas, refined the musical setting. “The Pacing White Stallion of the Llano Estacado” is mentioned in J.Frank Dobie’s wonderful book, “The Mustangs” – originally copyrighted in 1936. He was an unnamed “ghost horse” who could not be captured, always outpacing every pursuer- a phantom of the prairie. I shaped this song, but it has also shaped me. It’s brought me countless friends who share my love of horses. Thank the Lord for Inspiration that comes from beyond Thought.
