Rodeo Clown
RODEO CLOWN
written by Doug Moreland, ASCAP (composer/author and publisher)

Once a year the cowboy circus comes to town
Got riders, ropers, trucks, horses, and all
I'm going to be flying high when I leave the rodeo grounds
Follow all the folks down to the dance hall

Everyone's swingin to a honky tonk sound
I know the ladies love to waltz around
No one is fooled by my painted smile
Am I the only lonely rodeo clown?
Rodeo-dee-yodel-ayee

I used to have a love but now she's gone
Mothered up with a calf roper when she got the chance
I can stand in front of a crowd and tell a bull to bring it on
But I can't find the courage to ask them girls to dance

Everyone's swingin to a honky tonk sound
I know the ladies love to waltz around
No one is fooled by my painted smile
Am I the only lonely rodeo clown?

2000 pounds turned loose, angry and mean
Put my life on the line to make people laugh
Say I can't make a joke about the commander-in-chief?
Tell me who's really wearing the mask

Everyone's swingin to a honky tonk sound
I know the ladies love to waltz around
No one is fooled by my painted smile
Am I the only lonely rodeo clown?
