Hannah
Writer(s): John Meador

In the springtime of his life
He wed a sweet young wife
Hair of gold and eyes of blue
Her name was Hannah
Gathered in the name of God
They stood upon that sod
He took a Solemn vow to
Love and cherish Hannah
The taste of love upon his tongue
His life had just begun
His spirit thrived and grew entwined with that of Hannah
Red roses and sweet wine
Love only grew with time
He never dreamed of one night spent without Hannah
Hannah oh Hannah
Kiss me soft my sweet lovin darlin
Hanna oh Hannah
Hold me tight till the light of the mornin
In the Autumn of his life
He lost his loving wife
A fever came and took away his darlin Hannah
The Lord gives and takes away
He couldn't understand that day
His mind and body weak and mournful without Hannah
The doctors watched his memory fade as the lines mapped out his face
Inside his dying mind still lived his sweetheart Hannah
Cross them yonder Mt. tops his darlin wanders lost
Before the first light comes he'll go to bring back Hannah
Hannah oh Hannah
Come back my sweet lovin darlin
Hannah oh Hannah
My bones are tired and I'm to old for wanderin'
