Biography
Angie Arsenault is a singer/songwriter based in Montreal, Canada and performs piano-drenched pop filled with emotionally complex lyrics and bittersweet melodies. An Acadian born and raised on Prince Edward Island, her music has been compared to that of artists such as Kate Bush and Tori Amos. In February 2007 Angie released the four song EP ‘The First Set’ which was targeted to her growing live audience, and began broadcasting the story-teller format internet video series ‘My Shattered Windows’. Both of these significantly raised her online profile with all the key sites including FaceBook, YouTube and MySpace.
‘Once Upon A Dream’ is Angie’s debut album, and is a semi concept ‘that explores different levels of consciousness, questioning the meaning behind dreams which open up a whole new space for expression’. The 10 songs (plus various interludes) range from ‘dark, moody and intense vibes’ to ‘light, uplifting and soothing’, and feature an instrumental core of piano, bass, drums and cello, augmented by more strings and guitars. Angie’s arrangements perfectly complement her stunnng vocal performances and her own soaring vocal harmonies.
The recording budget for the album was raised on the SellaBand online platform by crowdsourcing from her growing global fanbase. It was produced and mixed by Daniel Cinelli (Lauren Hill, The Fugees, Peter Murphy) and recorded at his Planet Studios facility in Montreal during the second half of 2008. The results were mastered in London by Kevin Metcalfe at The Soundmasters.
