Biography
ancourage started off named after the city in alaska(anchorage) in 2003..josh machniak(and a multi-instrumentalist) was playing drums with local dynmaic indie out fit leaving rouge(greyday productions) with singer songwriter sean hoen(of mid 90's underground -metal/hardcore band thoughts of ionesco, featuring derrick grant of alkaline trio/suicide machines respectively on drums and "jon bonom of detroit" brian repa as well ) . machniak joined up with mike derrick(guitar) and graham pawluk(drums), (of early 90's detroit melodic-hardcore outfit empathy, which members later formed:elliott(revelation records),by the grace of god(victory), and thoughts of ionesco).. longtime friends and machkniak's first love of bass and wanting, trying to attempt on vocal duties..led them to basements of a members ex girlfriend's house to play music, and have fun..in 2004 they recorded an e.p. titled "if there is a wave,we say no" at legendary detroit punk rock producer/musician tim pak's woodshed studios(thoughts of ionesco,current,empathy)..which resulted in four songs of somber-slow-core leanings of codeine and red house painters, with a little more chug..with they're shows increasing throughout the michigan area and playing numerous shows with detroit legends: bang, bang!,the holy fire(the militia group) and as well as national groups like tristeza, the appleseed cast, pedro the lion)..anchorage became ancourage and went in 2005 to record at keyclub studios(the kills, peaches, taking pictures,m sord, chin up/chin up) and with they're sound expanding in dynamics and furthering in a rock vision, along with mathematical timing and constant melody..they released in 2006 the album "this could lead to arguments" on local collective/label down peninsula audio(the holy fire)..armed with fresh praise from punk planet as "the best thing to come out of detroit in 2006". and now as 2008 approaches ancourage is aimed at furthering they're rock dynamics with an album already recorded at high bias studios in detroit with chris koltay(afghan whigs, the dirtbombs,bulldog,ssm,rescue)..and set release for a summer/fall release with local and national interest peaking.
