Self Made Orphan
Self-made orphan doesn’t want any love
cuz I’ve only known the conditional kind

It hurts too much and it isn’t enough
And I run at the very first sign

I find happiness in things lyin’ around
Bottle caps, colored glass and little lost toys
A lonely shoe, this picture of you, and rush hour traffic noise

But it’s the made up memories I love the most
Of you and me that I get from my little radio

Self-made orphan doesn’t want any love
Cuz I’ve only known trouble in tears

It hurts too much and it isn’t enough
And I’ve been running from it for years

I find happiness in things blowin’ around
Fallin’ leaves, shiny things and little lost toys

Lots of booze, this picture of you, and rush hour traffic noise

But it’s the made up memories that I love the most
Of you and me that I get from my little radio

Uh Oh, Uh Oh, Oh

I like to sit here in the shadows
And listen to my radio
I daydream every song’s about me
I daydream every song’s about you too
Especially the sad ones

Something I put myself through

Cuz I’m a self-made orphan
I don’t need any love
I dream about you

I find happiness in things right here
A cigarette and a bottle of beer
A slow blues, this picture of you
And my dream of having you near

But it’s the made up memories I love the most
You and me that I get from my little radio

Uh Oh, Uh Oh, Oh

My little radio

I like to sit here in the shadows
And listen to my radio
I daydream every song’s about me
I daydream every song’s about you too
Especially the sad ones

Something I put myself through
Cuz I’m a self-made orphan
I don’t need any love
I dream about you
And my little radio
