I Don't Want To Work For The Audio King No More
Kind of a Johnny Paycheck (Take This Job And Shove It) meets Jimmy Buffet sort of thing we call it BlueGrass Reggae. Audio King was an Audio/Video store that Mark worked at for the first 3 years after moving to the Twin Cities Area. At first, though it was long days and nights, it was a great crew. But then under the guise of "Saving this Company so that it will be here to provide for your kids when they are ready for college" management, just before Thanksgiving weekend (the busiest and most lucrative time of the year), announced the cutting of all wages save their own. The next day the budget reports for the coming year were released indicating a sizable raise for management, almost to the penny what they were taking away from the crew. Mark sorely wanted to leave and his wish was granted when he was let go because of attending church the Sunday before Christmas instead of coming in early that day to work. Mind you the schedule had only been changed that Thursday. Mark wrote this song in his head driving from the Twin Cities to Iowa City where his sister Mary (who Amy & Mark think is absolutely stunning on vocals and harmonica throughout Gone ...aloft) lives. This was all 20 years ago last Christmas, and Audio King is now out of business. It's never too late to say your piece.
