Faoiseamh a Gheobhadsa (Song)

This beautiful poem by one of Ireland’s finest 20th-century poets, Máirtín Ó Direáin, translated as ‘I will find solace or peace’, depicts how the poet who is living and displaced in an urban area, would find peace and security back in his home on the Aran Islands in the West of Ireland, where he feels a strong sense of identity, with place, people and language.

The poem was set to evocative music by the Co. Louth fiddler, Zoe Conway, and her husband, John McIntyre, on guitar.
