Never Have Lived
Never Have Lived
I step outside and place, one foot in front of the other.
A lifetime spans before me, but I don’t run.
It seems we’re seeking answers from another.
Which makes this race half the fun.
Starting a path, they say, takes you right back home.
Use the heart and the mind, they say, or you’ll forever roam.
But with all the things I’ve done and with all the things I’ll do,
It’s better without a map and with undiscovered truths.
Pre-chorus:
And I feel overwhelmed by life’s demands on me
And will I understand what’s expected of me? Because,
Chorus:
I never have, never have lived before, and I,
I never have, I, I never have lived.
No I never have lived.
I’m told there’s no time to waste, so I get right in line.
These wicked things we face make up for the lie
That we can buy happiness with the American dream.
But a house, a wife, and kids is not what it seems to be.
Pre Chorus:
And I feel overwhelmed by life’s demands on me
And will I understand what’s expected of me? Because,
Chorus:
I never have, never have lived before, and I,
I never have, I, I never have lived. No I, I never have, no I never have lived, no I, I never have, no I never have lived.
Bridge:
If I could take it back, to the garden new,
I’d stay there for awhile,
But then there wouldn’t be you.
I step outside and face the long road ahead.
Beliefs are what we hold to pacify what’s left.
We can’t see our story untold
But I’ll try to turn the page for a single grain of gold.
Pre Chorus:
And I feel overwhelmed by life’s demands on me
And will I understand, what’s expected of me? Because,
Chorus:
I never have, never have lived before, and I,
I never have, I, I never have lived. No I, I never have, I, I never have lived, no I, I never have, no I never have lived.
