The unforgettable sound of Adam Fisher delivers a striking and palpable chill back to the outlaw country scene. With an ear tuned to the legendary tunesmiths, the rumbling of Adam’s debut drifts onto radio airwaves distinguishing his baritone timbre to secure his place among his musical heroes.
The legendary hip-shaking and pop-culture shaping Elvis Presley was a childhood inspiration for this modern day guitar slinger. Reared in Jacksonville, North Carolina by gospel singing parents, Adam and his younger sisters were first exposed to music via gospel and Christian arrangements.
As the rogue persona that is Adam today developed, his talents began to soar. The pages of his high school yearbook were marked with guitar plucking and singing songs by the King. “I’d have to say my favorite course in high school was my job readiness class senior year,” recalls Adam. “While other kids visited law firms and doctors’ offices, I went on stage and played for the honky-tonk crowds. I remember the first song I ever sang before an audience was ‘That’s Alright Momma.’”
While performing in Memphis, he was approached by legendary country music singer/songwriter, Stella Parton and quickly jumped at the opportunity to travel to Nashville for his first album. “I never thought I wanted to be a writer. If Elvis could just entertain, then I could do the same,” smiles Adam. “But after moving here and working with Stella, I’ve realized how important it is to me as an artist and how much I enjoy writing.”
After finding and writing songs for his first CD at the age of 21, Adam has come a long way from the small town bars of NC to the bright lights of Music City. Today, Adam is continuing to write and connect with the city’s successful songwriters for his debut album. With a sound that is as intoxicating as a shot of Evan Williams bourbon whiskey served with a side of Coors Lite, it’s no stretch to hear the influential tunes of Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, Dave Matthews, The Black Crowes and Shooter Jennings intertwined with Adam’s skull and cross-bones style. “Every great performer owes their success to their fans. I’m ready to give my fans something new and different to love.”
Beneath this leather and chrome entertainer and too-pretty-for-his-own-good outer shell is a youthful and humor dripping core that keeps everyone laughing. “I made this ridiculous promise to my dad that I can’t wait to fulfill. He never got to see me walk the graduation line at college, so I told him my graduation would be the first time I get to perform on the Ryman Auditorium stage. I want to walk out and do the whole performance in a cap and gown. Wouldn’t that be a scene!”
In the modern music charts where new artists only get one single to see if they stick, the pressure is on for Adam to prove why a 24 year old should be singing about Outlaws and honky-tonk subjects. “With no risk, there is no reward. I love playing music and there is no way I could do anything else. When this ride is said and done, I don’t want to be remembered as a singer, but as a good man. I want my music to last beyond the performance and continue to have an impact after I’m gone.”
Adam is truly a thrill seeker and risk taker by bucking the new country trend to establish clout among the veteran headed audience of conservative country. In the few moments when he isn’t permanently attached to his six string, he’ll be found watching episodes of “Family Guy,” working on his neon tan watching the local talent or scratching down sketches for new clothing and art. “I like to create my own clothes from the very beginning or alter what I find in stores. I am just never happy with anything until I can put my own touch on it.” Adam is destined to shake things up much like his icon Elvis with a fresh resurgence of the genre’s roots ultimately reminding fans and performers why we all love and connect with country music.
