Water's Rising

It seemed like spring would never come, this winter it was cold
but the cool clear rains came fallin' with the disappearing snow

The grass it turned a shiny green the flowers they did bloom
and all was well around my town no darkness and gloom

The sky above would not let up she bowed her head and cried

She rained down on the pitiful, and rained down on the poor
and as I cried forgive me water rushed in through my door

but the sandbags they were broken and that water rushed right in
