Wayne Taylor Biography
Wayne retired from the US Navy Band's country/bluegrass group "Country Current" in Washington, DC in 2008. After traveling the world over for over 24 years he formed Appaloosa. In 2010, Wayne and his group created Out In The Middle Of Nowhere. This is a diverse compilation of 13 songs selected from traditional bluegrass, five original tunes penned by Wayne, one Bob Dylan song and a couple of tunes from singer/songwriter David Parker. The recording took place in Sharpsburg, MD in a Farm House built in 1855 converted into a studio by Recording Engineer Todd Stotler. The Farm House was used as a hospital during the battle of Antietam during the Civil War.
Since we struck the first note as a group in 2008 “Wayne Taylor and Appaloosa” has performed for thousands of music lovers in Scotland, England, Holland, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, Nashville, Tennessee, Maryland, Pennsylvania, California, Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Virginia, and New York. We have many miles yet to go, hope to see you down the road sometime soon.

Out In The Middle Of Nowhere 2:06
Writer: Wayne Taylor
Publisher: Raincoe Music BMI
Lyrics
Two hobos sitting by the track, one named Billy and the other one Jack, livin' in a burned out Cadillac out in the middle of nowhere. I don't know how they got that way, living dreams of yesterday, they're better off living in another day it seems so long ago.
chorus:Billy was as star rodeo clown, broke his leg and it put him down, his love ran off to another town and now she's gone. Love can break most any man out of the fire to the frying pan, gonna get along if the can out in the middle of nowhere.
Showing their scars from way back when a coyote howling in the wind talking about the places that they've been it when the sun goes down. There's a blanket of light coming ore the plains a freight train humming that sweet refrain, jump on a flat car again and move on down the line.
chorus:
Jack ran a bar in New Orleans Cajun spice and finer things had the prettiest gal he'd ever seen and now she's gone. Love can break most any man out of the fire to the frying pan gonna get along if they can out in the middle of nowhere.
Two hobos sitting by the track, one named Billy and the other one Jack, livin' in a burned out Cadillac out in the middle of nowhere.

Southern Railroad Line 3:43
writer: David Parker
publisher: Raincoe Music BMI
Lyrics
From my Great Grandfather's porch you could see that south fork river. Just a silver ribbon cutting through the pines. When the cold wind blew the leaves away, it made the branches shiver, yeah you could see that trestle on that southern rail road line. Well we used to count the cars and try to guess where they were going, as the purple shadows claimed another day, and our evening serenade was just that lonesome whistle blowing, up the hollows up through the hills and down the halls of yesterday.
chorus:
Now the trains used to roll by here twenty five a day, man some of them's a hundred flatcars long, till Buck Duke damned the river up and washed the tracks away. Made a lake out of the old man's cotton farm. And now forty miles of track under twenty feet of water are all that's left to show that at one time. Life in the south like the blood in our veins ran right down that southern rail road line.
That old man knew those engines like the parts of his own body, he could tell by the sound the driver's made. Yeah he knew which engineer had his hand behind the throttle, by the he built the steam up, to help her make the grade.
Then he said one time those tracks ran all the way to Mississippi, Atlanta, Mobile, Nachez right on down. Then he said one day I'm bound to ride, son you're gonna ride her with me, tell we run clean out of track and have to turn this thing around.
chorus:
Now the trains used to roll by here twenty five a day, man some of them's a hundred flatcars long, until Buck Duke damned the river up and washed the tracks away. Made a lake out of the old man's cotton farm. And now forty miles of track under twenty feet of water, are all that's left to show that at one time. Life in the south like the blood in our veins ran right down that southern rail road line. And now forty miles of track under twenty feet of water is just a forlorn headstone progress left behind. Everything was fine back in 1929 riding down that southern rail road line.

Ole Slewfoot 2:54
writer: H. Housey, J. Webb
publisher: Spirit One Music, OBO Little Hurry Music, Inc., BMI
lyrics:
High on the mountain tell me what do you see? Bear tracks bear tracks looking back at me. Better get your rifle boys before it's too late, that bear's got a little pig, he's headed for the gate.
chorus:
Well, he's big around the middle and he's broad across the rump. Running 90 miles an hour taking thirty feet a jump. Ain't never been caught he ain't never been treed, some folks say he looks a lot like me, some folks say he looks a lot like me.
Saved me some money and I bought me some bees, started making honey way up in the trees. Cut down the tree but the honey's all gone, Ole Slewfoot's done made himself at home.
chorus:
Winters coming on and it's forty below, the river's froze over now where can he go. We'll chase him up the gully and run him in the well, we'll shoot him in the bottom just to listen to him yell
chorus:

It's My Home 3:16
writer: Wayne Taylor
publisher: Raincoe Music BMI
lyrics:
I'm am the whisper of the wind, I flow through the needles through the highest of pines. Whistling as I go, way up to the sky, across the blue mountains where the valleys reside.
I am a man, lumber is my trade, I've worked in these hills since my younger days. My skin is red my hair is long, my blood is in this land and with wind that blows through the pines.
Chorus:I A I A, I A I A, it's my home.
I am the river I flow around each bend, I grow wider every day from the snow and the wind, within me there is life, I feed the hungry soul and quench the thirsty land when it's dry.
As a pilgrim I have sailed across the baron sea upon this cursed earth, it will be my destiny. I bring my steed and goods for trade with anyone I meet, I stake my claim and take just what I need,
Chorus:I A I A it's my home.
I am the spirit I head the mournful song, the keeper of souls of those who have gone. The judgment of a man, is in these simple words, of the deeds and the things that they've done,
Chorus:I A I A, I A I A, it's my home.

Could It Be Goodbye 2:34
writer: Wayne Taylor
publisher: Raincoe Music BMI
Lyrics:
There she is lying by my side,
Why do I feel so all alone
I guess she just don't love me anymore
Well you know, I could be wrong
Sometimes those feelings speak a world of truth
Even though nothing's ever said
I'd rather sing that song all by myself
than to be all alone in this bed.
Chorus:
What's that song that Bluebird's singing
Flying way up in the sky
The melody it sounds familiar
Could it be, could it be, could it be goodbye
This hurt I feel will not let me go
This pain inside I want to lose
That's why I'm singing me a brand new song
I'm so tired, of these low down blues.
The door is open and my bags are packed
I've got my two feet on the floor
She'll never hear me say another word
All she'll hear is the slamming of the door.
Chorus:
What's that song that bluebird's singing
Flying high up in the sky
The melody it sounds familiar
Could it be, could it be, could it be, goodbye.
What's that song that bluebird's singing
Flying high up in the sky
The melody it sounds familiar
Could it be, could it be, could it be, goodbye.

The Wages of Sin 3:44
writer: David Parker
publisher: Raincoe Music BMI
Lyrics
He crept under the covers from the arms of his lover to the home where they're waiting for him. But, it's dark cold and empty, with no one to greet him, just a note, I know where you've been.
Those moments of passion seem tawdry and empty compared to what has been lost. Too late he's learned that cheater's hard lesson, yes everything comes at a cost.
Chorus:
The Wages of Sin are never passed due we always collect what's coming to you. The fool in his heart believes he can win. But death claims us all the great and the small the wages of sin.
The lovin' of money is the root of all evil, cause men to lie cheat and steal. Their bitter betrayal bear silent witness it's treasure no heart can conceal.
With his ill gotten gain clasp tight in his fingers, the deep lust for money to spend, till he finds himself bound, in shackles and chains. The down payment on the wages of sin.
Chorus:
The Wages of Sin are never passed due you always collect what's coming to you. The fool in his heart believes he can win. But death claims us all the great and the small the wages of sin.
Now how many times has the Lord tried to reach you, of't tender call to you friend? But you turned a deaf ear and traded his mercy for the brief fleeting pleasures of sin.
One moment more one last careless hour tomorrow to turn from your wrong. But, the summons goes forth when the bell tolls at midnight alas you've waited too long.
Chorus:
The Wages of Sin are never passed due you always collect what's coming to you. The fool in his heart believes he can win. But death claims us all the great and the small the wages of sin. Yes death claims us all the great and the small the wages of sin.

Secret of the Waterfall 3:23
writer: J. Landers
publisher: Zap Publishing Co., BMI
Lyrics
Chorus:
Down by the waterfall where the water runs so cool, there no secrets ever fall from the lips of a fool.
Jennifer was 17 the same age as I. She had lived next door to us since were was five. She knows I loved her dearly and told her many times, looking forward to the day when she would be all mine. One more year of school we thought those wedding bells would ring, but the hand of fate has ways of changing everything. I walked upon the two of them by down by the waterfall, Jennifer and Jimmy Jones they say me not at all.
Chorus:
Down by the waterfall where the water runs so cool, there no secrets ever fall from the lips of a fool.
Jimmy Jones was married and had a family, and I couldn't understand why they did this to me. They both were scared but all they thought I'd do was tell his wife. Their faces turned to masks of fear before I took their lives. People thought that Jennifer just up and ran away, Jimmy Jones who disappeared a mystery today, many years have passed but vividly I still recall, only I alone know what's behind the waterfall.
Chorus:
Down by the waterfall where the water runs so cool, there no secrets ever fall from the lips of a fool, from the lips of a fool.

I Want You 2:54
writer: Bob Dylan
publisher: Dwarf Music SESAC
Lyrics
The guilty undertaker sighs the lonesome organ grinder crys, the silver saxophone says I should refuse you. Cracked bells and washed out horns the blow into my face with scorn, but it's not that way I wasn't born to lose you.
Chorus:
I want you, I want you, honey I want you so bad.
The drunken politician leaps upon the streets where mothers weep and saviors who's fast asleep they await for you. And I wait for them to interrupt me drinking from my broken cup and ask me to open up the gate for you.
Chorus:
I want you, I want you, honey I want you so bad.
Now all my Father's they've been down true love they've been without it, now all my daughters put me down, cause I don't think about it.
Now I return to the queen of spades talking to my chamber maids, she knows I'm not afraid to look at her. She is good to me and there is nothing she doesn't see, she knows where I'd like to be and because I.
Chorus:
I want you, I want you, honey I want you so bad.
Your dancing kid in his Chinese suit he spoke to me and I took his flute, no I wasn't very cute to him now was I. But I did it because he lied because he took you for a ride and time is on his side and because I.
Chorus:
I want you, I want you, honey I want you so bad. I want you, I want you, honey I want you so bad.

Ain't Nobody Gonna Miss Me 2:38
writer: Lester Flatt
publisher: Peer International Corporation BMI
Lyrics
Once I had myself a sweet heart I loved dearly, we planned on the day she'd be my own. Some other man has stole my baby from me, now ain't nobody gonna miss me when I'm gone.
Chorus:
There ain't nobody gonna miss me when I'm gone, there ain't nobody gonna mourn for me too long. Want you write these words upon my headstone, there ain't nobody gonna miss me when I'm gone.
Once I had a loving Mother and Papa, but now they're in the land where angels dwell, they've found eternal rest way up in heaven, where I'll find my reward no one can tell.
Chorus:
There ain't nobody gonna miss me when I'm gone, there ain't nobody gonna mourn for me too long. Want you write these words upon my headstone, there ain't nobody gonna miss me when I'm gone.
You've been patient kind and true to me old Copper. You're the only one who's never done me wrong. Come closer while I pat your head old Copper, now ain't nobody gonna miss me when I'm gone.
Chorus:
There ain't nobody gonna miss me when I'm gone, there ain't nobody gonna mourn for me too long. Want you write these words upon my headstone, there ain't nobody gonna miss me when I'm gone.
Chorus:
There ain't nobody gonna miss me when I'm gone, there ain't nobody gonna mourn for me too long. Want you write these words upon my headstone, there ain't nobody gonna miss me when I'm gone.

When You Were Mine 3:15
writer: Wayne Taylor
publisher: Raincoe Music BMI
Lyrics
What can I do what can I say, to keep you here with me, and make you want stay. I tried my best to let you know, if I knew the answer I would've told it long ago.
chorus:
But I can't turn the day in to night and I can't take what's wrong and make it right, and if I could I turn back the time, back in the day when you were mine.
Everything we've done must be in vain the love and the hurt, joy and the pain, I guess that's life, the life we live, it's not what we take but the love that we give.
chorus:
But I can't turn the day in to night and I can't take what's wrong and make it right, and if I could I turn back the time, back in the day when you were mine.
If I'd sing the song you want me to, unto myself I wouldn't be true. But, I'll walk this path and if I walk alone, at least I did what's in my heart to keep you here at home.
chorus:
But I can't turn the day in to night and I can't take what's wrong and make it right, and if I could I turn back the time, back in the day when you were mine.
chorus:
But I can't turn the day in to night and I can't take what's wrong and make it right, and if I could I turn back the time, back in the day when you were mine.

Cabin In The Sky 2:35
writer: Wayne Taylor
publisher: Raincoe Music BMI
Lyrics
When your heart gets so weary and you don't know what to do. You just call upon your Savior and he'll walk along with you.
He will walk right beside you, hold you by your trembling hand, give you peace beyond measure and lead you to the promised land.
chorus:
You will walk the deepest valley climb the mountain way up high, then you'll know your souls eternal, in that cabin in the sky.
With the darkest days are behind you, every test you will endure, and you'll feel the master's presence with a heart that's safe and sure. Every hill in this life's journey filled with love you'll never find. Till you give your heart to Jesus with your body soul and mind.
chorus:
You will walk the deepest valley climb the mountain way up high, then you'll know your souls eternal, in that cabin in the sky.
chorus:
You will walk the deepest valley climb the mountain way up high, then you'll know your souls eternal, in that cabin in the sky.

Is it too late now to tell you that I love you, or is there still a chance for me somehow. Oh they tell me know that you have found another, darling please don't say it's too late now.
I know this heart of mine could never stand it if I should have to give you up somehow. Oh want you say you'll give me one more chance dear, darling please don't say it's too late now.

Is it too late now to tell you that I love you, or is there still a chance for me somehow. Oh they tell me know that you have found another, darling please don't say it's too late now.
Well I confess I know I've done you wrong dear, oh can't you see my side of it somehow, all I ask of you is one more chance dear, darling please don't say it's too late now.

Why Don't You Tell Me So 3:39
writer: Lester Flatt
publisher: Peer International Corporation BMI
Lyrics
I can tell by the look in your eyes dear, that you still long for me. But somehow you just won't admit, that's why it's so lonesome you see.
chorus:
Now if you have made up your mind and if you still want me you know. Why do you keep me in doubt, why don't you tell me so.
Each night there's tears on my pillow, they're all because of you I know. Dear i can't go on this way, why don't you tell me so.
chorus:
Well there will come a time little darling, when you still want me you know. But it will then be too late, for you to tell me so.
