One day (in 2015 in think) while shuffling through a box of CDs (some in covers, some not) I found a loose one that had written in magic marker the words NEVER ALONE.

I put it in the player and was surprised to be reminded that it was one of David's songs that we had demo'd over 20 years earlier.

We tracked it at John McFee's Lizard Rock Studios (think Doobie Brothers and Southern Pacific) in Santa Ynez, CA and then quickly forgot about it.

I called David to see if he recalled that session and he said he did and that he was pretty sure that he had the 2" tape of it somewhere in storage. Turns out he had it!

We "baked" it in a food drying gadget in an attempt to restore it, then loaded it up on an old 2" machine and (thankfully) got the tracks transferred to digital format.

We preserved my vocal, John's pedal steel part, and the harmonies that David and John and I sang.

All else was replaced.

Tom Lackner tracked the new drums and David re-tracked the guitars and piano.

I love this track, everything about it... especially the song itself.

Well done fellows. And nice song David.
