Route 24
I pulled into a roadhouse outside of Baltimore; with a motel in the back out on route twenty four.
I ordered up my supper and then sat down to eat. Coming through the door was an angel that I just had to meet
She ordered up her supper and sat down next to me and we started talking like we were family.
The band started playing so I took a chance I took her by the hand and asked her is she would like to dance

We danced until midnight and loved until dawn. Then I realized that she was moving on.
We said good bye there in the morning sun. And; she said to me last night was really lots of fun.
But now I have go back to my family they’ll all be wondering what happened to me.
I guess she was out for, just a one night fling. I don’t remember seeing a wedding ring. 35 sec

I don’t mean to tell you that I am such a prude. But; sometimes we all break the golden rule.
That was the night that I cannot forget; years ago in Baltimore and I still dream about it yet.
I can remember the touch of her hand; the scent of her perfume and the name of the band.
The way her body felt dancing on the floor; all these memories make want a little more.

I asked her for her name as she pulled away, she just smiled and said that she’d be back someday.
She told me to remember the number on the door. If that was the same as her age, she was only 24
She jumped into her pickup, and took off up the street and left me standing there in my stocking feet
I remember clearly her license plate; it was love 24 sometimes I think that It was fate.

Ever since that night out on highway twenty four, I drive by that motel and stare at the door
She wiggled like a rattlesnake but she cooed like a dove. When I held her close I knew I was in love
I’m sitting here tonight like so many nights before; eating at that road house on route twenty four.
I’m facing the door hoping that she’ll be walking in. Holy cow what do I see? My angel’s back here again

Walk on baby. Walk over her to me. She looked at me and smiled. And now; she’s walking back to me.
