MONTEBELLO
Two old people having supper: at a table beside the pool.
An evening stroll: in a moonlit park, maybe a kiss or two.
The old man takes her by the hand in his and he began to cry.
He said: I loved you then. love you now. And; I'll love you till I die.

His steps were getting slower and his eyes are growing dim.
His hair is turning gray but she said she loved him..
I asked you then to marry me I heard the old man cry
But; It’s too late now to marry now; life has passed me by

Life has not been kind to me; I heard the old man say
‘cause; I never could forget how you sent me away.
Fifty years I dreamed of you and every night I cried.
But; it’s too late to marry now; Life has passed me by.

He kissed her hand so gently then and slowly walked away.
She cried after him, calling out his name
As he turned to look at her, I heard his reply.
It’s too late for us now; life has passed us by

I watched him as he stood there underneath the light.
Then slipped into the darkness and disappeared from sight
A voice out of the darkness brought the old man’s cry
It’s too late to marry now life has passed me by
