After a brief get-together to do a little jamming at a campground in Northern Vermont, Bob Amos shared a few original songs with Alex, knowing that Rock Hearts was schedule to record later that year.

Rock Hearts, all members hailing from the northeast, related to the imagery that Bob Amos and Jim Karns painted into the lyrics of Daddy Dixon. They could all envision the old man walking down the tracks, hearing the rumble of the trains, and the remoteness of living alone once the kids leave the house.

The band arranged the song in an Old-timey style to compliment the storyline. Featuring classic fiddle/banjo sections, the listener can easily see and hear Daddy Dixon come to life.
