Biography
Edna’s Kin is a family band featuring brothers Dan and Andrew Koontz and their father, Warren Koontz. Family friend Bruce Beyer is the drummer. Dan is the main songwriter of the group, and can be heard singing and playing guitar, piano, banjo, and accordion. Andrew writes songs as well, and performs mostly on fiddle, but can sometimes be heard on bass, while Warren is mostly on bass, but can sometimes be heard singing and playing guitar. In 2019, Edna’s Kin released their first CD of all original music, “Whiskey & Wine”, which is now available for digital download on Amazon, iTunes, Spotify, and CD Baby. A diverse blend of folk, country, bluegrass, and blues music, “Whiskey & Wine” featured the favorites "All This Lovin'" and "You're Too Good," which received widespread airplay. Their latest release, "Two Thumbs," continues in the tradition of fun, homemade music and adds some tasty covers: a souped-up rendition of Ringo Starr's classic "Don't Pass Me By" and a fiddle-heavy version of Led Zeppelin's "Hot Dog."
