Goin' Home (East Tennessee)
Going home how many years I’ve longed to see a mountain so high
Watched the wild birds fly against a clear morning sky
See the love light shining from my dear mothers’ eyes
And now I know I’m really going home

Carry me back to East Tennessee where my body lay cold as a stone
Lay me down easy under the trees where only God and I may go

I’ll be gone a thousand times more greater than I ever was here
Take and leave all senses and all doubts and all cares
And if you find it in your heart to shed a lonesome tear
Then you’ll call my name and I’ll be gone

Carry me back to East Tennessee where my body lay cold as a stone
Lay me down easy under the trees where only God and I may go
Where only God and I may go
