Shannon Leigh Reynolds - Hold On
“’Hold On’ is about finding yourself in lowdown places, even of your own doing, but pushing through your troubles knowing that if you just hold on, things will always get better and go your way again,” writes Shannon Leigh Reynolds about the advance single from her August debut album, Triple Shot. “I wrote it while reflecting on such times in my life, and it’s one of my favorite songs on the album. It’s being released as a single ahead of my debut album, Triple Shot, because I think it has broad appeal to listeners of bluegrass and far beyond, not only because of its message, but also because of its infectious and inspirational groove. I’ve been told that it’s a hit!”

AmericanaUK will premiere the video for “Hold On” on July 4th. The video for “Hold On” was shot at Sky Stage, a unique performance and arts space in downtown Frederick, Maryland developed in a pre-Revolutionary War building that suffered a catastrophic fire in 2010. "There were intermittent showers on the day we shot at Sky Stage, but like the song, the rain cleared and the weather turned great," Shannon says. "Other scenes include studio shots of me, several of the musicians who played on the song, some friends, and my ever-supportive husband. The video was produced by Jim Robeson Productions, LLC, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, with some assistance from Jim “Ratso” Silman, longtime cameraman at the local Washington, DC ABC station."

A native of Georgia, who grew up on rock and roll in the 80’s and 90’s, Shannon Leigh Reynolds first heard classic country and bluegrass in college, and she was instantly hooked on both. By the early 2000’s Shannon was singing in bluegrass bands in the Washington, DC area. In 2017, she teamed up with banjo virtuoso, Keith Arneson, to form the acoustic duo, Peace Run Band. It was in this experience where she honed her vocal style and expanded her musical repertoire, incorporating elements of bluegrass, classic country, and other folk styles of music.

During the pandemic, Shannon doubled down on songwriting, taking that time to regroup and envision her next move for when the world started to turn again. She conceptualized her debut solo album, Triple Shot, and approached Dede Wyland, one of the biggest names in DC-area bluegrass (and beyond!) to produce it. The album features several covers in her unique style that you won’t find anywhere else, as well as four of Shannon’s original compositions. A huge labor of love, the album is powered by her strong and expressive vocals and a cast of bluegrass greats including Arneson, bassist Mark Schatz, Fred Travers on Dobro, and Ron Stewart fiddling. Now you can find Shannon performing in the Maryland, Virginia, and DC area with her excellent band, The Good Bygones, blending bluegrass and neo-traditional country into high-energy acoustic shows.
