The best songs are about basic human issues, and there's nothing more basic than the viewpoint of the guy in this song. My co-writer Thomm Jutz said he worked one summer on a road crew with a guy who we quote in the song. If anyone complained about the job he'd say, "The weather is better than six feet under and the pay's a lot better too." I imagine being a grave digger, and illustrated the song that way on the CD art. Bub's bass sounds like a tuba on this track and I love Mike Rojas's piano part.
