Jessica's wings

Cheyenne in the morning
between the hail and rain
made pieces on the ground
on that cold April day
Daddy I just can't wait she said
and he holds out his hand
she'll fly to heaven today
her soul is never going to land

Jessica wants to fly
to the sun through the rain
so she can touch all them stars
and come back again
Jessica waves goodbye
didn't know it would be the last thing
as the wind lifts her arms she cries

above the winding roads and trees
just a sound of her sweet name
can bring me to my knees
Momma you can let her go now
can stop melting in the rain
when it rains I hear calling
calling out your name
