Story behind the song:

"I'm from Port St. Joe, Fl which was recently devastated by Hurricane Michael. Originally, this this song was written about a forgotten way of life in former mill town. I find it hard to hear the song now as I watch an entire community of people try to make sense of a natural disaster and dig their way out. We're only a few weeks out from this storm and there are years of recovery ahead of us. The town's spirit is beautiful, but the people are weary now and it's a strange new normal as we approach the holidays. More than half of the homes in my county alone were drastically damaged, many people are displaced and almost all of us are bone tired of waking up to rubble every day. The despair is evident in people's faces and too many look like the line from the song 'ghosts walk the earth alive.' I know we will recover. This place has a magic to it, but the song definitely hits even closer to home now." - Lauren Spring
