Biography
The Kinetiks kick off 2009 with the release of their "Aye Aye Aye Aye - EP" on March 6th. Lead track "Lightbulb" is already a fan favourite having been showcased at the band's appearances at Oxegen, Indie-Pendence and Le Cheile festivals in 2008. Last year brought about support slots with Scouting For Girls, The Enemy Delorentos and The Flaws among others. Described as "...'kin Brilliant!" by the Irish Times, The Kinetiks also managed to squeeze in appearances at The Trinity Ball and UCD Ball as well as media launches for Jameson, Becks, Red Bull, Duracell, the Hot Press Yearbook Launch and the Balcony TV Awards.
The boys were back in Grouse Lodge, Suite and Sun Studios in late 2008 with Gareth Mannix (Republic Of Loose/Delorentos) and Marc Carolan (Muse/The Thrills) to record their latest six-track release which includes previous singles Bite The Bullet and Shuffle Your Feet as bonus tracks.
Thanks to regular airplay on Today FM (Ray Foley), 2FM (Dan Hegarty), BBC Radio Ulster, Phantom FM and other regional stations the band's rep as ones to watch in '09 has been confirmed. The band managed to place a track on MTV U.S show The Real World this past October. They are due to release their new EP in the U.S early in 2009 due to interest from Boston based publicists, Planetary Group, who have helped to break artists such as Kings Of Leon, Interpol, Katy Perry, Bloc Party, Ash and Oppenheimer among others.
Confident, charming, giddy and energetic have been used to describe the group's impressive live performances. Lead singer Gaz Harding has been plugged as "amiable and watchable as a frontman can get". The Kinetiks have been described as "the best indie band around right now" and as "having REAL breakthrough potential" by leading Irish music industry executives.
