Tim Bennett’s I’ll Be Expecting You began as an experiment with the DADGAD guitar tuning. “I had seen Patty Griffin at The City Winery in Nashville during AmericanaFest 2015,” says Tim. “I love her voice and a lot of her songs use non-standard guitar tunings. Her album that year “Servant of Love” was done in non standard tunings except for the piano pieces and I think one she played on mandolin. Seeing her performance that year piqued my curiosity.”

“I tuned my guitar in DADGAD and without knowing any chord formations, began searching for something that sounded good. Once I finished the lyrics, I had to get a DADGAD chord chart to figure out what to give Hal Ratliff, my piano player, so he could write charts for the recording sessions. Hal’s piano is critical to this track and he gives a stellar performance.”
