9. COMING OF AGE (3:25)
Coming of Age

On a night crowded with stars
I lay with a girl I once knew
And her heart beat close to mine
And she swore she would always be true
In the short tale of my life
Just as if I had turned a new page
I kissed her and she sighed
And that was my coming of age

On a day sunny and bright
Is when I first sailed off to sea
And I loved working so hard
And did things that were all new to me
But the ship sailed with no name
And it carried a cargo in chains
And I soon learned to regret
That I’d had a coming of age

On a field red with the blood
Of the enemies broken retreat/defeat
I stood weapon in hand
And my brother lay slain at my feet
And tears filled up my eyes
As around me the battle still raged
For I had taken his life
And that was a coming of age

The sunsets in the sky
It seems to be setting for me
The darker that it gets
The more I am able to see
As I end this tale of my life
Its only to mount a new stage
To pass away from this world
And have a new coming of age
