Hill So Steep (single)
Hill So Steep
Driving up a hill so steep
Thought the ground would let me go
When I closed my eyes, and I spun so fast
Thought my time had surely come
But I landed soft on a bed so high
In a house I did not know
A place to pass this nauseous night
When I almost died alone
This old car won’t make it
Always swerving ‘round the lines
Sticky wheel with clammy hands
And endless paper fines
Oh the earth will surely push me off
Doesn’t want me here I see
At least these things are only true
in the darkness of my dreams
Climb, climb, climb, climb
Who said this was OK?
We’re always on the cusp of never seeing another day
But we’re leaning to the bright side
‘Cause it’s all that we can do
When the daytime leans so heavy
That our dreams are heavy too
The shadows meet me face to face
Like a night on a stormy sea
Swirly waters and heavy clouds
Make for my shaking knees
Climb, climb, climb, climb
Who said this was OK?
We’re always on the cusp of never seeing another day
But we’re leaning to the bright side
‘Cause it’s all that we can do
When the daytime leans so heavy
That our dreams are heavy too
Climb, climb, climb, climb
Climb, climb, climb, climb
Climb, climb, climb, climb (do not let me go)
Climb, climb, climb, climb (please don’t let me go)
Climb, climb, climb, climb and do not let me go
Climb, climb, climb, climb and please don’t let me...please don’t let me… please don’t let me go
Driving up a hill so steep, thought the ground would let me go
