Livets Dans (Dance of Life) (original composition)

"Livets Dans" is a track I composed based on vocal improvisation using a nonsensical language over a so called "borduntone", which translates into something like a pedal tone, that functions as a drone thru out the piece. I wanted to capture different melodic characters that were inspired by Norwegian folk music, trying to mix heritage with new impulses. As the piece grew, the vocal layers multiplied and both synths and percussions were added in addition to the church organ and original vocal line. Simple, yet complex all at once, "Livets Dans" is a journey thru the marriage of tradition and contemporary and speaks of emotions of the liberation of rebirth.
