"Dagsens Auga Sloknar Ut" is a traditional Norwegian folk song, with unknown origins for the musical side of the piece and with the current version of the lyrics dated to 1891 and accredited to the Norwegian hymn writer Elias Blix. This is not one of our more famous folk music pieces here in Norway, so I only first encountered it in early 2023, but instantly fell in love with its haunting melodic language and metaphorically based lyrics. Trying to keep the characteristic melody and words in focus, I decided to give the song a very minimalistic church organ accompaniment and then composed an outro for the piece that I felt both contrasted and complimented the original song. An emotionally intense song, wrapped in a very minimalist inspired sound landscape, "Dagsens Auga Sloknar Ut" quickly became one of my favorites on this EP.
