Manners
Manners
(Susie Salley 2001)

Manners are a sign of intelligence
It separates the rednecks from the ladies and the gents
Thank you ma'am and you're welcome sir are the things we hold so dear
It's a dying southern art form we've lost throughout the years

I hate to watch a T.V. show and hear that fake old drawl
To hear 'em talkin' through their nose it drives me up a wall
But the sweet fragrant music of a true southern belle
Will melt the hearts of any and all red blooded male

Manners are a sign of intelligence
It separates the rednecks from the ladies and the gents
Thank you ma'am and you're welcome sir are the things we hold so dear
It's a dying southern art form we've lost throughout the years

Some folks they get offended when you call them ma'am or sir
Yes these are the manners those fools have never heard
Just ask yourself a good old boy if it's got to do with age
He'll reply I cannot lie it's all in how you're raised

Manners are a sign of intelligence
It separates the rednecks from the ladies and the gents
Thank you ma'am and you're welcome sir are the things we hold so dear
It's a dying southern art form we've lost throughout the years

They always ask me where I'm from every time I open my mouth
I just smile all the while you can bet it's from the south
