Susan Graham Pepper - Where the Sun Will Never Go Down
16. Where the Sun Will Never Go Down: One of the most beautiful old hymns around. This would have been sung at “Camp Meetings,” which were held in the open air and often had both White and Black congregants in attendance. I learned this from Buna Hicks’ (1888-1984) powerful rendition on Folk-Legacy recording The Traditional Music of Beech Mountain, Vol. 1 (1964) and from Rick Ward’s singing of it.
