Sue was turned on to the "swamp pop" sound by her mentor, Clifford Antone, who was all too knowledgeable about the obscure rock and roll that came out of rural Louisiana. Jimmy Donley was known as one of the greatest songwriters to break out of that scene in the 1950's and '60's. He credited this heartfelt song to his wife, Lilly Mae Donley.
